Car Maintenance You Shouldn't Try at Home

In a troubled economy, many people look for ways to cut costs by doing household tasks themselves. Some automotive jobs can be done fairly easily at home, particularly if you know something about cars. However, taking on the wrong job on your own will only cost you more time, stress and money in the long run. My name is Jill, and I want to tell you about which car maintenance tasks you can safely tackle on your own and which really do require some help from a pro. I'll break down the needs of a typical car and tell you exactly why you might need to ask for help sometimes.

3 Common Audi Issues

Although Audi is generally considered a top of the line vehicle, there are still some issues that abound with them. Like any other machine, there are some issues that tend to regularly come up. Luckily, so long as you stay vigilant and know what to look for, your Audi will continue to run as good as the day you bought it for years to come.

Dashboard

The indicators on your dashboard might give out, including the odometer, speedometer, and most importantly, your gas gauge. Unfortunately, this is one of the issues that you can't take preventative measures against, and will simply most likely have to take it into your local Audi dealer for a repair. There are instances of the entirety of the dashboard giving out, so it's recommended that if you notice any problems with one portion of the dashboard, have it examined as soon as you can.

Oil Issues

Although Audis are considered to be top of the line when it comes to gas mileage, they tend to consume oil at a very fast rate. Smaller Audi models, like the S4 and A4 are more susceptible to this issue than other models. Although this issue can only be solved by replacing your oil system with after market parts, if you are uncomfortable with doing such a thing, it is important that you take preventative measures to ensure that you do not run low on oil. Make sure that you check your oil frequently – at least twice a week – and that you have your oil changed when it is necessary.

Ignition Coils

Ignition coils can, unfortunately, fail without warning on Audis. The only preventative measure to take when it comes to this issue is to have the part replaced with an aftermarket part before it becomes an issue. If your vehicle's ignition coil does fail, then it is a relatively easy fix. A licensed Audi repair person can easily replace the broken part. However, this issue can be frustrating as, without a properly working ignition coil, your car will fail to start.

Although foreign car repair can be relatively expensive, Audi repair is generally significantly less expensive compared to other makes. Although there are some common issues that can befall an Audi, they are, on the whole, a very reliable make of car and their reliability in other fields, particularly safety, make them a good buy. If you are having an issue with an Audi, it is recommended that you contact a licensed repair shop as soon as you can.
